    <title>Paper Pushers @ Gallery 1988 SF</title>

Paper Pushers drawing show at &lt;a href="http://www.nineteeneightyeight.com/entrySF/homeSF.html"&gt;Gallery 1988&lt;/a&gt; in San Fransisco.  Opening August 15 - September 6 2008.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The only problem is I sent my drawings almost 4 weeks ago and they haven't arrived at the gallery yet!     <title>Drawing and website</title>

I'll be putting 2-3 drawings into the show. This one is very pre-raphaelite-ish. I'm thinking of making it into a painting, but we'll see.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In other news my website is gone! Actually it's still there, but my domain name seems to be broken - it leads no where, just to an error page. It's very distressing because I don't know how to fix it. I will be needing ice-cream very soon. Those little ball shaped animals are echidnas. The little ones are pretty cute so the girls thought they might take a few of them home, but the fatter, less attractive echidnas are not too happy with the idea. The background is going to be a forest of mutated palm trees.</content>

It's a great book - no text, just full page colour images by a wide range of artists and designers. The book is available from &lt;a href="http://www.magnation.com/online/"&gt;mag nation&lt;/a&gt; in Melbourne (probably other places too).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I draw that image over 6 months ago.  Its very strange to see it published since my newer stuff looks looks a little different.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I also attended the conference in Sydney, mainly to hear Amy Sol speak.&amp;nbsp; I've written a short report on her presentation which you can read &lt;a href="http://cherryfields.blogspot.com/2008/04/amy-sol-semi-permanent.html"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;.</content>

Issue 15 has just been released and you can find a few of my images in the gallery section.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And in other news, &lt;a href="http://www.amysol.com/"&gt;Amy Sol&lt;/a&gt; is going to be at the &lt;a href="http://www.semipermanent.com/sydney/index.html"&gt;Semi-Permanent&lt;/a&gt; conference in Sydney! It would be great to go, unfortunately I can't afford it (airfares, accommodation - so much!), but there are a few competitions going around so I might try and win some tickets :)</content>

The print is available from the new &lt;a href="http://www.melissahaslam.com/store.shtml"&gt;store&lt;/a&gt; section of my &lt;a href="http://www.melissahaslam.com/"&gt;website&lt;/a&gt;. It's archival and beautifully printed on 100% cotton rag paper. The print is signed, titled and numbered with an edition of 100.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a name="cutid1"&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;div class="ljcut" text="more picture details..."&gt;It was much harder than I thought to make a print run. There was so much research involved in sourcing materials, packaging, finding a printer, learning about colour management, and working out payment options.     <content type="html">&lt;img alt="octopus" src="http://melissahaslam.orionvisuals.com/lj/octo_apron.jpg" /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another drawing, I've been doing quite a few lately.&amp;nbsp; A girl &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected"&gt;carrying&lt;/span&gt; an octopus in her apron pocket - pretty self &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected"&gt;explanatory&lt;/span&gt;, really!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I might make it into a painting but I don't know. Octopus are fairly over done these days. But so cute!!&lt;br /&gt;</content>

Once you put it on, it doesn't come off again, and you can't just  go over it. This pic is mixed media - ink, graphite, watercolour, tea, acrylic,  colour pencil and a touch of photoshop. I think next time I'm doing a painting,  with plain, ordinary paint.</content>
